MUSIC

The Redgate Renegades are bringing their eclectic mix of covers to the Cage, Reigate this Saturday 21st. They hail from Redhill and Reigate (hence the name).  I saw them at the Sportsman back in August and thoroughly enjoyed their set. Their energetic mischievous personalities are infectious –  I defy you not to sing and dance along. Highly recommended as is…

Alice Dale. Alice acted as warm-up act for the Redgate Renegades at the Sportsman. Her acoustic set can be heard this Saturday 21st at The Old Oak, Meadvale. Alice is also performing at the Cage, Reigate, Friday 27th.

Do remember to check out the Yard near Reigate Station. They offer a platform for all sorts of wonderful buzzy creativity: Open mic nights, book groups, walks. It truly is a gem in Reigate’s cultural crown. Make it this week that you pay a visit for a night out.

LITERATURE

We may be enjoying a glorious Indian summer but the nights are drawing in and there is nothing better than snuggling up with a good book, under a blanket on the sofa with a mug of hot chocolate to hand.  Big hitters such as Margaret Atwood may be dominating the shelves of Waterstones. But you could do worse than checking out these local authors.

NIKI MACKAY, her debut novel I, Witness received rave reviews.

An incredibly gripping thriller with a twist you’ll never see coming. Fans of Persons Unknown by Susie Steiner, Strike’s The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith, Close to Home by Cara Hunter and The Child by Fiona Barton will love I,Witness.
