A wartime tale that features Reigate’s Pigeons wins the 2020 Reigate and Banstead Writes competition.
Congratulations to Orla McNally, a pupil from Reigate Grammar School who has been awarded the 2020 prize. Her wartime tale featuring Reigate’s pigeons, was inspired by the stories told by her neighbour, of her Grandfather and the adventures he had in Reigate as a Police Inspector during WWII.
Sophie Pither, a Year 6 pupil at St. Joseph’s School came second. Whilst Ella Dutton from The Warwick School was a close third.
Check back on Friday 19th June when the winning stories go live across our partners social media.
Reigate and Banstead Writes is the brainchild of Kay Hymas from the Warwick School. It also feeds into RH Fringe Rock and Write, a week of events celebrating local creative talent set for June 2021.
well done to the winners – and to everyone involved!
Well done to the winners, other participants and also to Kay and the organisers/judges for ensuring that this has continued despite the lockdown.
