Celebrated author of Brightstorm and Wild Spark will be MC at the awards afternoon on 19th June at the Harlequin Theatre, Redhill.
Vashti Hardy is a writer of children’s books living near Brighton in Sussex with her husband and three teens Brightstorm “A fast-paced fantasy adventure that will set your imagination soaring!” was shortlisted for the Waterstone’s Childrens book of the year in 2019 and her follow up WildSpark promises to be just as successful.
The local MP Crispin Blunt will present the eventual winner with their prize and a host of other special guests will come together to celebrate the achievements of our young writers and their Tales from our Towns. These include local supporters, teachers, judges, public librarians and of course: the young writers.
Reigate School of Ballet and Commercial Dance will close proceedings with a celebratory dance based on 2019’s winning entry. The Black Knight of Reigate Castle by Katy Adnyana. Her story can be read under the Reigate and Banstead 2020 section.

Reigate and Banstead Writes was initiated by The Warwick School, Redhill and is one of several local community groups working together to produce the first RH Fringe festival – celebrating local creative energy and talent that will take place in June 2020.
