Reigate and Banstead Writes opens for entries 1st February. The idea is simple: We want our kids to write a 1,000 story set in the Reigate and Banstead area. Previous winning entries have used Mercers Lake, Priory Park, Reigate Hill, Banstead Common and Reigate Castle.
The competition is open to all children aged 9-13 who live or go to school in the borough. We are delighted to announce that the Community Fund for Reigate and Banstead are providing an I-Pad to to the overall winner. Crispin Blunt MP will present the winner with their prize at the Awards Ceremony. This will take place on Friday 19th June in the Harlequin Theatre, Redhill. There are also runner up prizes for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th placed stories and highly commended nods. This joyful and celebratory occasion will have an array of special guests, not least the young writers.
Reigate and Banstead Writes was started by Kay Hymas from the Warwick School. Reigate and Banstead Writes is part of local groups and venues putting on the first RH Fringe in June 2020. This has been made possible thanks to Andrews Estate Agents, Redhill and support from Reigate and Banstead Council.
